Healey Memorial Scholarship Winners 2024Each of the following 18 Scholarship recipients received $750 last month at the conclusion of the Joseph F. Healey Memorial Golf Tournament.  These recipients are all employed at area golf courses and qualified for a scholarship based on their knowledge of the life of Joseph F. Healey, their successful academic performance, their outstanding character and their involvement in community activities.

Organizers said, “This event is focused on providing scholarships to young men and women at local golf courses who are trying to further their education. This year, we awarded 18 scholarships to very deserving recipients, all in Joe’s name.”

At the close of the event, Thomas L. Mortimer, President and CEO of presenting sponsor Haverhill Bank, offered congratulations and best wishes to the students and presented a ceremonial check in the name of each recipient. Haverhill Bank has sponsored the tournament for more than 10 years.

Those who work at Haverhill Country Club were William McKinnon III of Fremont, N.H., a Freshman at Bryant University; Gabrielle Laura Chase of Methuen, a Senior at Merrimack College who plans to attend medical School after graduation; Patrick Connolly of North Andover, a senior at Merrimack College; and Kate Mahoney of Newburyport, studying at the William S. Richardson School of Law.

Affiliated with Atkinson Country Club were Abigail Pernilla-Roche of Haverhill, a Sophomore at Merrimack College; Ethan Doherty of East Hampstead, N.H., a Junior at Keene State College; Owen Doherty, East Hampstead, N.H., a Sophomore at Plymouth State University; Evan Doherty of Atkinson, N.H., a Sophomore at Endicott College; Abigail M. O’Connell of Haverhill, a Freshman at St. Anselm College; and Anthony Rousseau of Atkinson, N.H., a Junior at University of South Carolina.

Affiliated with Bradford Country Club were Cameron Dunkley of Atkinson, N.H., a Sophomore at University of Alabama; Patrick Kelleher of Haverhill, a Senior at UMass Amherst; Caroline Madden of Haverhill, a Areshman at University of South Carolina; Sydney Spencer of Haverhill, a Freshman University of South Carolina; and Brenna Corcoran of Haverhill, a freshman at UMass Lowell.

Other recipients were Lauren Cook of Reading, a Freshman at New York University, Thomson Golf Club; Ava Spencer of Groveland, a Junior at University of Georgia, Renaissance Golf Club; and Cora Higgins of Shrewsbury, a Freshman Elon University, Worcester Country Club.
