Commercial Loan Assistant

Assists the loan officer with commercial loan application data gathering on entities and individuals, analysis of corporate documents, and basic collateral research in order to comply with application regulations to include Patriot Act, HMDA, Flood Insurance, Reg B, Appraisal Notices, etc. when applicable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare commercial loan documents, commitment letters, and other similar material, including written and verbal communications with customers, attorneys, and appraisers; prepare input sheets, filing UCC’s, mortgages, etc.
  • Compliance verification and facilitation of new or renewed loans through the loan documentation process to ensure meeting expected customer deadlines, acting as the liaison between the officer and other departments.
  • Reviews loan documents for accuracy before closing.
  • Provide backup for loan officer for loan closings with clients. Able to understand and explain all loan documentation to the client clearly and professionally.
  • Creates loan file exceptions when applicable, and assists the loan officer with the research and collection of outstanding file and client exceptions.
  • Provide clients assistance in the form of ongoing loan file documentation creation to include loan advances, funds transfers, wires, extensions, modifications, automatic payments, amortization schedules, etc.
  • Responsible for the preparation of detailed reports on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Responsible for the preparation of Executive Committee and Board of Directors packages.
  • Maintain orderly commercial loan credit and collateral files (filing and setting up files), including managing the commercial collateral vault.
  • Complete new loan system set up review within days of the loan closing to ensure that the set up is correct.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations and company policies as stated in Bank’s Code of Conduct.  
  • Complete required training including regulatory, systems and others as required by the supervisor based on job duties within the requested time periods.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate verbally and in writing with clients and vendors.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • Salary Range: $53,329-$79,053
  • Associates Degree or High School Diploma (or equivalent).
  • At least 2 years of commercial banking experience.
  • Must be detail oriented, computer literate; proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize LaserPro. 
  • Ability to interact within all levels of the Bank.
  • Must be a team player.  Employee must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions: (a) can get along with co-workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes; (b) perform work activities requiring negotiating, instructing, supervising, persuading or speaking with others; and (c) respond appropriately to criticism from a supervisor.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person and small group situations with customers, vendors, and employees of the organization.
